"This is a digital painting I created to express my love and connection to Mparntwe. I’ve spent about 11 years of my life growing up in Alice Springs. It’s where I met a lot of my lifelong friends, my partner who’s an Arrernte man, and where I did the majority of my schooling. My family and I would spend every weekend travelling outbush and exploring the country. It was on these trips, I was first introduced to the beautiful wild flowers and plants of Central Australia. I have a lot of respect for the Arrernte people and the other tribes that surround Central Australia. I’ve had the privilege to meet a lot of different mob while working as a nurse in Alice and it’s made me love and admire the desert country even more."
